Vijay is convinced of Anil's innocence and vows to prove him innocent.
Vijay recollects how Anil had refused lakhs of rupees which Vijay had offered to him to leave Asha. To his surprise and shock he comes to know that these very eyes belong to Anil, Asha's husband, who was hanged on a charge of murder which he had committed for a mere sum of Rs. Vijay who is now a changed man wants to know to whom the eyes belong. God grants his prayer-his eyes are transplanted. He begs go God that if he can see again he will turn a new leaf.
On the sixth day Vijay breaks down and realises the futility of money. Vijay in arrogance orders his doctors to buy a pair of eyes for him but of no avail. The doctors inform him that if a new pair of eyes are not transplanted in him within six days, his nerves will go dry and then he will never be able to see again. Five long years pass and then one faithful day, Vijay in a car accident loses his eyesight. The fire of revenge still burns in his heart. Vijay vows to destroy Anil and Asha who eventually have to flee the city to seek a peaceful life elsewhere.
Vijay buys Asha's father-he also tries the same trick with Anil by offering him lakhs of rupees-but Anil prefers love and finally refuses. But in Asha (Reena Roy) he faces defeat for the first time in his life-she rebukes him and instead gets married to a simple Anil (Raakesh Roshan) who is an ordinary accounts clerk in her own factory. DHANWAN is the story of Vijay, an industrial tycoon, who thinks that money is everything and can buy everything-may it be a factory, a woman or even God.
